When we received the email from Foodbuzz guaranteeing our VIP entry to the Extravaganza for the Senses fundraiser, we were of course excited. Excited may not be the word to quite describe how much we were looking forward to this event. For the last twelve years, the evening has been regarded as one of the city’s most well known food and wine charity fundraisers. The evening’s proceedings would feature samples from some of the area’s top restaurants and wineries. Groove-worthy music provided by none other than DJ Scott Silva, whose residencies at the Downtown Standard and Echo Park’s Short Stop are well known, would set the mood. There was no doubt in our mind that we’d enjoy the event to the fullest. Sponsored by the New Friends of the Saban Free Clinic and The Wine House, all proceeds would go towards the Saban Free Clinic. Originally known as the Los Angeles Free Clinic, the organization continues to advocate and provide affordable healthcare–medical and dental–to those who need it most here in Los Angeles. An Extravaganza for the Senses
And It's For a Good Cause
As we get older, and the space between now and college graduation gets bigger and bigger, the life of the twenty-something seems more and more elusive. Don’t get us wrong, we have great lives here in Southern California, but the roadmap to navigate through life is certainly less defined than it was in school several years ago. We look around now and there’s clearly a lot going on in the world—new presidents, healthcare reform, fight for marriage equality, wars, and the like. And not to mention what’s going on around in our personal lives. As we try to establish meaningful personal relationships and climb the ladders in our career, it seems everyone around us is getting married, having babies, being promoted left and right, and traveling all around the world.
If there’s anything that can bring it all back down to earth for us, it’s the food! Having a medium to cook meals of our choice and share it with the world is something we’re immensely thankful for (thank you for your support!). In addition, we love to get involved with a good cause whenever possible. Combining a food experience with a worthy cause is truly a wonderful thing. …Continue Reading »
