Getting into the Spirit

We’re getting into the spirit of the season just like everyone else. In addition to the gingerbread men, peppermint delights, and traditional Christmas cookies, we love to include an adult treat in our Holiday repertoire of goodies. I enjoy eggnog as part of my winter routine. Chrystal, on the other hand, is not the biggest fan of dairy, boozy drinks. Being that many of my in-laws have a Swedish heritage, I thought a glogg recipe would be the perfect alcoholic seasonal beverage to share.

Coconut Pumpkin Bread 2

Pumpkin again. It’s back! Perhaps some of you are hoping it will not pop up here anymore. Our first night there we ate at the incredible Palace Grill–a charming, Cajun-style restaurant. After eating our meal, we tried their Louisiana Bread Pudding Soufflé for dessert. This delectable dish was a hot mix of bread budding with Grand Marnier, raisins and a whiskey cream sauce. It was so bomb we had to take a picture, which previously lived in our About section for a while. If you saw the excitement and anticipation in our eyes, you’ll know why this version had to be made.

Just Sweet Enough

Summer isn’t quite here yet, but the weather’s very strange right now, so most of us probably feel like we missed half of the spring season. Under these strange circumstances, let’s pretend that we are now well into summer. The hot, hazy days feel great when you end them with a light dessert. Pineapples are great on their own, but they could always use a little something to spice them up. One technique that truly makes the sweet nature of a pineapple sing is the flambé. Dash a bit of liquor over a hot flame, and you’ll have caramelized pineapples for everyone to enjoy.
