Alexia Foods “Reinvent a Classic”: Trial 4

We’re one step closer to picking our final submission to the “Reinvent a Classic” French fry challenge. I am currently traveling around Chicago and Wisconsin, visiting family and old friends. This is the perfect opportunity to solicit even more feedback on the fry flavors we’ve been playing with for the last few weeks. It is crazy how we started this process on June 20th, and we’re already nearing the one month deadline for the flavor submission. We only have a few more days before we choose our best and final fry!

Alexia Foods “Reinvent a Classic”: Trial 3

If you’re just checking in, we are participating in Alexia Foods’ “Reinvent a Classic” challenge that allows 25 bloggers to submit an idea for a new French fry flavor. Amir and I will need to submit our final sweet potato flavor idea to the Alexia Foods team by July 20, which is creeping up pretty quickly. We’re both crazy busy with work, traveling and other projects right now, so we’ve found the best way to do it is to split up the recipes and work on them individually for a bit. We’ll reconvene and test them all together before choosing one to submit. We’ve affectionately titled the Sweet, Herby, Smokey and Spicy. Here’s an update on the testing so far!

Alexia Foods “Reinvent a Classic”: Trial 2

A week ago we announced we are partaking in the Alexia Foods “Reinvent a Classic” fry challenge, in which we compete with other food bloggers to come up with Alexia Foods’ next original French fry flavor. Only four finalists will be chosen and ultimately one will win the whole challenge, having his or her flavor produced and sold all over the country for everyone to enjoy. How exciting! After our first run of fry testing, we picked back up right where we left off a few days later. Like a mad scientist trying to perfect a new invention, we were back in our culinary laboratories excited to get things started. Of course we want to win in the end, but recipe experimentation and development are our absolute favorite things to do in the kitchen. We’re loving every part of this challenge!

Alexia Foods “Reinvent a Classic”: Trial 1

This is a fun post that we have to share with you. In fact, it will be part of a series of posts. We have been selected to participate in Alexia Foods‘ :Reinvent a Classic” fry challenge. There are several other bloggers participating as well, and you’ll probably come across many postings online during the length of the challenge. Hopefully you will check out our trials as we go through the process of developing a fun new flavor idea for Alexia Foods to add to their roster. You’re invited to follow along as the competition continues!

Welcome to the Chef’s Table

It’s big, fun announcement time! We’ve kept this quiet for almost three months, and finally we can share the news. In early March, a call came in from one of our friends who we initially met in November 2009 at the 1st Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival. This friend had an opportunity presented by his client Bertolli, and they were curious to see if we’d be interested in participating. But of course! Never was there a moment of hesitation when we found out what the project would be. The only bad part was that we had to keep our lips zipped until the June. Well that day is here, and we can talk! Come take a seat at the Chef’s Table, will you?
