Chrystal and I were recently sent a party pack in the mail along with some samples of Bacardi Classic Cocktails Light. Our task was to highlight the batch of Bacardi cocktails by throwing a “Shiny Chic” themed party that featured some of own recipe creations. Well, everyone knows you have to seize any opportunity to throw a food gathering when a variety of booze is provided. And that’s exactly what we did! We sent out an invite to a dozen friends, began brainstorming dishes to whip up, and in no time, we were off and running.

The relationship between a home cook and his or her food processor is sacred. That is why it was a day of mourning when my merely 6 month-old food processor suddenly bit the dust not too long ago. Joy the Baker always has mouthwatering posts throughout the weeks. There are probably more than we could ever make, but one of the fairly recent ones was a keeper. Not only did it look appetizing, but it was also timely. No better reason than that to give it a try.

Birthdays come every year, and no matter what, they cannot be avoided. As we mentioned a few days ago, October is the favorite month for both of us for our own reasons. If you were to create a Venn diagram, you’d see one of the shared reasons is the fact that our birthdays are in October. (Not to mention several other friends as well.) First is Chrystal, then Amir, which makes us an interesting Libra/Scorpio pair, respectively. Very interesting! Never shunning an opportunity to cook, we threw the first party of the month with cake and cocktails of course. There’s no such thing as a birthday sans cake and cocktails. We are also responsible and do not want to send our friends out into the world on sugar alone, so we whipped up a few savory nibblets as well.
