Chocolate Mousse

This installment of our Guest Test Kitchen features a friend of mine from the professional food world. I first met her during a season working behind the scenes of a cooking show. It was only a couple of seasons, but we definitely connected over that experience, our love for food and fun extracurricular activities outside of the kitchen. One day, I’d love for her to make Amir and me her garlic, goat cheese and balsamic vinegar tart. I think it would be a perfect way to start a meal that finishes with the dessert she will share today. Enjoy this chocolatey treat from my friend Tara!

Chocolate Sabayon Puddings

These mini puddings would have been perfect for a virtual potluck party. Just perfect. Here’s hoping Gojee will still be open to including them in the bunch, but for now, we don’t know. That’s because we missed the deadline! Have you ever had something at top of mind, or at least in your list of to do’s, and for some reason, it just never gets done? That’s what happened during most of January. In December, we filled a friend’s birthday cake with a caramelized pineapple and ginger sabayon that was inspired by two previous successful sabayon flavors. If you’re not familiar with sabayon, don’t think we’ve gone all fancy on you.You too can pull together a sabayon. If you do it in a timely fashion, maybe you will make it to the party with dessert in hand.

Yes yes, it’s another post highlighting yet another dessert. What can we say? We have a strong sweet tooth. A meal just isn’t complete without a sweet finish. This one takes us back to a road trip though. Just over a year ago, we celebrated Memorial Day on a weekend getaway in Santa Barbara. Our first night there we ate at the incredible Palace Grill–a charming, Cajun-style restaurant. After eating our meal, we tried their Louisiana Bread Pudding Soufflé for dessert. This delectable dish was a hot mix of bread budding with Grand Marnier, raisins and a whiskey cream sauce. It was so bomb we had to take a picture, which previously lived in our About section for a while. If you saw the excitement and anticipation in our eyes, you’ll know why this version had to be made.
